<3 eRock First bomb by my shitty English.. Imagine we have a movie building virtually. Users can shoose to be either a host or audience. To be a host, you must provide movie (clips). Hosts can also hold activities after/before you stream. Either a collection of the whole films promotion events (related video resources spread on the internet/interviews of the production crew/information of related events happen somewhere in the city/world.) Being an audience can choose go directly to a film or go to chatting lounge instead. They can form chatting froups freely or join a big discussion hold by hosts. They can also discuss with their friends in the movie, that will be a "whisper" during the film. Also, participants can rank each other. Gradually we will have opinion leaders according to their rankings. Does this host hold great activities? Do they give good critiques? New Joiners can get a good reference through community members' reputation. Some ideas and talking points for presentation: MOVIE NITE is a social video sharing app that encourages participation over idle viewing and promotes original video content. The viewing aspects of the application are time-sensitive, a throw back to the "opening night" model of hollywood releases, in order to create buzz and increase excitement to the viewing experience. While sites like You Tube and Google Video have successfully promoted sharing by allowing users to access the content they host at any time and share it with anyone on the web, resulting in the "viral video" effect, they don't really approach the issues of individual taste and have pretty much failed in the respect of "brining people together" based on the content that they share. Movie Nite solves this anti-social problem by emphasizing the connection of people through content and brings them together via a "virtual screening room" wherein all of the guests view hosted video at the same time, encouraging discussion, and offeres ensntives to participation in promoting the video before the screening occurs. USER SCENARIO: When a user registers for Movie Nite, they choose a username and are given a "profile page". From this page the user can upload their video content, becoming a "host", which then creates the "preview page" for this content. The host can set the date and time of the "screening" and enter any relevant information pertaining to the video, such as credits or a brief synopsis. Next, the "host" can invite people, either other Movie Nite users or outside participants, to the video screening, providing them a link to the "preview page" and view the short video clip. these guests who come to the page can leave tags and comments on the video clip, send out more invitatations, as well as RSVP to the screening by approving that their name is on the "guest list". The "guest list" includes usernames which link to those users' individual pages, as well as iconoc representations of the ways that they've helped promote the current video to date (ie, sending more invites, tagging, commenting). The tags, comments and particpation collatoral are also shown on their own profile pages, encouraging a positive feedback loop and filling out the user's profile with relevant information about the videos that they enjoy and participate in. When a user is on the guestlist, they also bring with them a link to the preview pages of the other videos that they are currently or most recently involved with, in effect, helping to promote traffic to those pages as well. In this way, with multiple preview pages linking to multiple profiles, users who were not initially invited to a particular screening can still find the preview page and ask to be invited to the screening by way of a message that is sent to the host. Once they have been approved by the host they are also free to tag, comment and invite, increasing their social collatoral, and their respective projects will show up on the page as well. Finding content through other means is simple, though intentionally pared down from the "blind search" methods of most video hosting sites and people finders. Rather than entering text into a search bar, the user is presented with all of the tags that have been entered on all of the video that is being hosted on the site and all of the users who have tagged. In this way, Movie Nite further encourages social sharing by making people and content easier to find the more they actively they participate. A list of the site's "most popular" users and videos, assembled by most commented, highest rated, most tagged and best attended, are also presented with links to their respective preview and profile pages. The day of the screening, the preview page shows a link that takes guests into the virtual screening room. While viewing the feature presentation, viewers can interact with eachother via a chat backchannel, where their comments will be documented in real time, accessible through the preview page after the screening has ended. the chat room will remain open after the movie ends for further discussion, and guests will be allowed to rate the movie at this time. the average rating will also show up on the preview page for any future visitors to see. If a preview page still manages to generate a lot of traffic and incite interest even after the initial screening, the host may decide to show the video again at a future time. this will also be faiciltated by the fact that the message line from users who visit the page will still be open to the host. Some features or anti-features: No blind searching Previews and Profiles are searchable by tags and ratings. Only. The more a user participates in a video screening, the easier the video's preview page and that user's profile page are to find. It also gives users a good bird's eye view of the movies and users that are most active and most popular. Isn't that much nicer than entering random text into an empty search bar? live profile population Rather than filling out a big empty form, the user's profile page is populated with content directly related to the activities that user pursues within the site. We feel that what a user "actually does" on the site is much more telling than a survey filled with things that user "thinks they might do". It also improves accountability for the tags and comments that users add to preview pages, knowing that those tags and comments will show up on their own pages as well. timeliness The virtual screening room encourages interaction among users and the timeliness of viewings help to build anticipation for the viewing experience. While emailing video links to your friends can be fun, we still miss the social aspects of actually "going" to the movies with friends. Plus, some of us are movie talkers (what can we say?). by invitation Anonymous viewing is fine for all those other video sharing apps, but we'd like our video hosts to get to know the people who enjoy their movies and find out what other movies they like. networking: Sharing doesn't have to be a one way street. In fact, it shouldn't be. That's why every time you sign up for a new screening you are also actively promoting your other project involvements. role playing It takes more tahn one person to make a film, why shouldn't it take more than one person to host a video? when you interact with our service by leaving comments and tags, sending out invitations and rating the videos you view, your profile reflects those interactions, making it easy for video hosts to find potential critics and promoters. sorry guys...will finish this up later. Have to go play some cello now! |
